In & Around Austin in a day

Austin strives to keep things weird and so does its culinary scene. We have visited Austin previous to this , just for its food scene and that's what bought us back to this city for this time just for a day. So below is our itinerary for a day in Austin and around it. Each of these places can itself take a day or more given the hiking, biking, swimming and other outdoor activities that Austin has to offer.

So we started the day with a whoelsome breakfast at Wholy Bagel. The bagels were fresh and the place itself has a lot of in & out influx , looked like a busy hour. Its my rule of thumb to use my basic senses to decide food. Good smell and lot of people always calls for good food. From there we left towards the Hill country Texas to burn our calories.

Our first stop was Old Baldly Mountain peak in Wimberly, TX. A short hike to the peak , very cute drawings on rocks and the smallest sign of the park that I had seen till now. To find the entrance to the hike, just follow google maps for the marker and you come across a space on the narrow that allows you to park your car and across the street will be the entrance to the steps. The view from the top is not that great but the hike is worth it for the stability of the stairs and i you are looking to do some climbing.

Our next stop was Blue Hole Regional park. Since it was November it wasn't as lush within the forest as it would be in the middle of Summer. But this was definitely one of the spots where you could dedicate an entire day lazing swimming and enjoying the blueish-green colored water in a forest.Sadly due to cold and pandemic rules, we weren't able. to step in the water. But there is always next time.

We grabbed a delicious fruit cake from HEB in Wimberley town to hog on as we drove to Fedricksburg, TX , a city known for its wineries. Our first stop here was Das Peach House. Do go here visit this place if you are planning on buying locally made sauces, jams or anything related to peaches. Also make sure to visit their backyard, its an ideal spot for photoshoot.

Given it was a week day , Downtown Fredericksburg was not as crowded as anticipated, so we strolled through the streets of E Main Street visiting sovienier shops and eating Scotch eggs from Fredericksburg Brewing Company. From there we headed to Bingham Family Vineyards for some wine tasting and grabbed a couple of bottles for the ones that we loved.

On our way back to Austin, we stopped to do some evening hike at River Place Nature Trail, Austin. From there our hungry stomachs fled to food trucks that Austin is known for. In our last trip we had tried all types of cuisine but this time after a long and tiring day we took in some comforting Indian food at Bombay Dhaba. Do try goat curry if you happen to pass by.

But on an ending note, We would definitely recommend you to visit Austin during summer, June would be a good time and visit all its swimming holes and enjoy the water streams that flow across the city with the array of food trucks at your disposal to try from.
